Fairy Tale Part I.A-Growing pains

Description: Why are all the crops failing? Can you help the Group of Advanced Gardeners to save their precious farming patches? Does having green fingers help when faced with a 6 foot tall gorse bush with a nasty temper? Do you suffer from Growing Pains?

Items Needed to Complete Quest: Dramen staff, Spade, Secateurs, and a Ghostspeak amulet.

You also need 3 of the following items, which you will be told later: Unopened oyster, Potato cactus, Nature talisman, Uncut ruby, Super compost, Clean irit, Red vine worm, King worm, White berries, Clean avantoe, Jangerberries, Jogre bones, Mort myre pear, Uncut diamond, Edible seaweed, Crushed gem, Volencia moss, Proboscis, Grapes, Fat snail, Snapdragon, Charcoal, Red spiders' eggs, Babydragon bones, Snape grass, Mort myre fungus, Blue dragon scale, Raw cave eel, Slimey eel, or Lime

Items Recommended for Quest: Amulet of Glory and teleport runes.

Quest Points: 2

Reward: 2 Quest points, 3,500 Farming XP, 2,000 Attack XP, 1,000 Magic XP, and a pair of Magic secateurs.

Start Point: Draynor Village market square.

To Start: Speak to Martin the Master Gardener.

Instructions:

1. Start by talking to Martin the Master Farmer in Draynor Village square.
   
   
   
   
2. Ask what is wrong and he will explain to you that the roses he grows are having poor yields. He will then start talking about flower diseases in a Mister Lincoln rose bush. He will say his other crops are yielding less as well. He will ask you a question, tell him that he is right. He now asks you to try to find out what is going wrong.
   
   
3. Go talk to five random farmers within Runescape. They are located near the many farming patches scattered around Runecape.
   
   The different farmers will each have different explanations, including little rain, insects, and adventurers. Who says what is random for each player. Here's a map of farming locations. (I recommend visiting the farmers at the yellow and red dots.)
   
   
   
   
4. The fifth farmer will say it is the work of the fairies and that all the others might be right.
   
   
5. Now teleport back to Draynor(If Amulet of Glory is equipped) and talk to Martin again. Speak to him and tell him the theories you have heard from the farmers. He thinks the one about the fairies is the most likely to have happened. He tells you to go ask a fairy, so head to Zanaris by entering the hut in Lumbridge Swamp.
   
   
6. Go to where the Fairy Queen usually is and talk to the Fairy Godfather. Ask him all of the questions. He will tell you that the Queen is sick and that she is also the guardian of the Fairy world.
   
   
   
   
7. He says the Fairy Queen is being taken care of by Fairy Nuff who is just north of the Zanaris bank. Go speak to her. After chatting she will give you a list of symptoms and tells you to give them to Zandar Horfyre.
   
   
   
   
   
   
8. Zandar is at the top of the Dark Wizard tower west of Falador. You can use the agility shortcut west of the bank to get there quickly. Give him the symptom list and he will talk about fairies and magic. After that he will send you to a person named Malignius Mortifer, a necromancer near Port Sarim who knows how to kill a Tanglefoot.
   
   
   
   
9. Go southeast of the tower and find Mortifer. He's by the road to Port Sarim from Falador. He then tells you he will inform you on how to kill a Tanglefoot if you give him a skull from a grave north of Draynor Manor. Go get your spade(If not already in your inventory) and head to Draynor Manor.
   
   
   
   
   
   
10. Give him the Skull and he will tell you that you need a pair of enchanted Secateurs to destroy the Tanglefoot. To do this he tells you to give the Nature Spirit three random objects and a pair of Secateurs and to also perform the ritual of Phasma Phasmatis Natura. Get your Ghostspeak amulet and talk to the Nature Spirit in Mort Myre.

11. After getting the secateurs, go back to Zanaris, and go to the Cosmic Altar. When you get there, go through the Gap in the Wall. Continue on the path, ignoring the Baby tanglefeet (Lvl 45), to get to the big room. Here you will encounter the Tanglefoot. Wield the secateurs and attack. (Higher farming level helps against this monster.) The Protect from Melee prayer also helps. When you kill it it will drop the Queens Secateurs. Take the Queens Secateurs to the Fairy Godfather and he will reward you.
